Inspired – Maria Rivans

I was lucky enough to see some of her originals during an art fair in London. The UK artist Maria Rivans creates intricate and fascinating collages, where pop art and surrealism meet together and create sparkling compositions. I have added some of the pieces found on her series Pin-ups, but check all the rest on her website, it’s fab!

I also have her beautiful book “Things to Cut Out and Collage”, filled with tons of images that you can use for your collages (highly recommended!). You can purchase her originals here and follow her on Instagram here.

Inspired – Mark Charlton

Inspired!

Enjoy the fab mixed media abstract paintings by the British artist Mark Charlton.

Below some words about his intriguing visual research:

His art explores a futuristic vision of space exploration from the perspective of the 1950s telling a story through a stylised visual language. The work represents fragments from salvaged space vessels that have reached the deepest depths of the universe. From the fictitious beginnings of ‘The B-12 Module’ and its scientific mission to Pluto his collections of work track an ongoing journey inspired by a mid century optimism of an unknown but enthralling future of galactic discovery.

Sue Williams A’Court – Dreamy Landscapes

Pastel palette!

Last summer I was lucky enough to see some of Sue Williams A’Court Paintings in a gallery in London.

I thought to see just small scaled drawings, but Sue works on very large scale too. The pictures online don’t give a proper scale of how big her works are, and they are so amazing! These delicate graphite landscapes are surrounded by pastel shades and a sense of retro nostalgia.

I couldn’t decide what to show in the gallery, so I picked two entire series. One is about her collages, the other one is a Series of drawings on book covers. If you love her works as I do, you can follow her on Twitter and Instagram.

Inspired – Josh Huxham

So inspired!

I really enjoyed “Silence” series by the UK artist Josh Huxham. The simple juxtaposition of two vintage photos give an exquisite surreal final result.

This is how the artist describes this body of works:

Josh’s work seeks the inner thoughts which we do not share in order to avoid protest. After developing a strong connection with his heritage through archiving historic photographs and other family relics, Josh continued to explore the vernacular, allowing him to form relationships in a space in which he feels visible.

‘Silence’ aims to extricate a sense of belonging within a dysfunctional family. The work expresses an essence of feeling invisible to those who are closest to us. To those who are as yet unaware.

Liam Symes – Memory, Isolation And Serenity

So beautiful!

The Uk artist Liam Symes has his own way to see memories and the images connected to them.

His paintings recalls me classic vintage family photos, but transformed in brand new amazing contemporary pieces. Each subject of his artworks seems to float into an isolated but bright, colorful and abstract space.

Inspired – Mairi Timoney

inspired!

Enjoy the wonderful mixed media artworks realised by the UK artist Mairi Timoney.

I love how she combines a pure minimal style, surreal landscapes and some delicate pastel colours shades.
