Jacqueline Tse – Death by Sugar

This is the amazing conceptual porcelain works by the American artist Jacqueline Tse. These pieces are part of an ongoing series called Death by Sugar, and it’s filled by deep and powerful topics.

This is what she says about this series:

My work speaks to the anxieties of being human, particularly the dilemmas of everyday urban life. It is an ongoing exploration of shameless consumerism, both tangible and digital, to celebrate the beauty and flaws of this fragile condition. In this current body of work I call “Death by Sugar,” I use a variety of sculpting techniques such as hand building, carving, plaster mold making, slip casting, and slip piping. Intricate porcelain confections are created with an irresistibly perturbing charm, resulting in a surreal dimension beyond dreams where sugar and fetus skulls are remixed into a delicate bittersweet pop narrative.
White is the color of death in Chinese culture, and this series of work is about the peace I have made towards my sugar addiction. The bare bone-like surfaces of the porcelain are meant to be evocative and peaceful at the same time.

Cyril Lancelin Installations

I am amazed by the immersive sculptural installations by the French artist Cyril Lancelin, aka “Town and Concrete“.

I enjoy the geometric repetition presented in such a wonderful way, with these surreal 3D pieces that allows people to explore them inside out.

I wish to have the chance to experience these works in real life!

You can check more fab works on his website, and follow him on Instagram here.

Curtis Talwst Santiago – Infinity Series

Amazing!

With Infinity Series the Canadian-Trinidadian artist Curtis Talwst Santiago makes a clear statement. This body of work is composed of miniature sceneries carefully handcrafted inside vintage jewellery boxes.

Most of the themes covered by the artist have a sociopolitical background like refugees on boats, police brutality assaults or completely burned houses.

Textile Art Scupltures

So coloured!

I fell in love with the soft textile sculptures-installations by the Chilean artist Serena Garcia Dalla Venezia.

Jeremiah Jenkins – Commemorative Plates

Amazing!

I was truly fascinated by the Commemorative Plates Series of the American artist Jeremiah Jenkins. His works are a perfect mixture between assemblage, collage, dada, sculpture and installation, and I love them.

Chiaozza – Colours, Paper And Nature

Amazing!

The American artistic duo Chiaozza (Terri Chiao and Adam Frezza), creates stunning paper sculptures using bright and eye catchy colours combination.

Their works also involve the use of collage, photography and installation. Despite the abstract final result, the art duo is inspired by natural elements as rocks, wood sticks or plants.

The Colored Busts by Christina A. West

So colorful!

I love the weird defaced busts by the American sculptor Christina A. West.

Each piece have a particular colorful intervention that can be revealed only if the sculpture is “ruined”. The surgical cuts combined with a bright colors selection is simply stunning.
