Some Of My Works 76

Check it out some other works from the latest series that I am currently working on – is called “Floating Dreamers” and it’s focused on my research on patterns and abstractions.

Floating Dreamers is a series about my constant research on pattern and colour combinations. The title of this body of works is also connected to my fascination for the past, and the necessity to keep it “suspended” in time and space.

On my Youtube channel I am also posting the work in progress of these pieces, so you can enjoy the process 🙂

Inspired – Lanecia Rouse Tinsley

Today I share with you the incredible collage works by the multidisciplinary artist Lanecia Rouse Tinsley. I love the sense of depth and composition of her pieces, and the layering is always spot on.

This intro on her website sums up perfectly the many talents of this artist:

Lanecia Rouse is a multidisciplinary artist based in Houston, TX. Her portfolio includes a range of abstract painting, photography, teaching, writing, speaking, and curatorial projects for local non-profit organizations.

Lanecia creates work that focuses on liminal space, on the not-yet-formed possibilities and depictions present in materials and their presentation that point towards “otherwise” possibilities and the everyday quests humans undergo to construct meaningful and content lives.

Her work is the product of contemplative and intuitive abstract mixed-media practices and is informed by sociology, theology, culture, poetry, and history.

You can also find her on Instagram.

Inspired – Karin van der Linden

Enjoy the beautiful artworks by the textile artist Karin van der Linden. Her pieces are a clever combined mix of embroidery, sculpture, installation and mixed media collage. The aesthetic is impeccable and incredibly poetic.

I didn’t find so much insights about her art research, but these are some words from one of her exhibition called Remember Me:

The exhibition, and the piece of work highlighted in it, “Remember Me” is based on memories of my mother, my grandmother and my own past. The mostly orphaned materials that I have used give an extra explanation.

My mother was born in a monastery in Krefeld where my grandfather and grandmother at the time, forced by circumstances, lived. She lived there with her brother for the first 12 years of her life. A period that determined the rest of her life.

The front of the piece shows embroidery, supplemented with photos and objects from that time. In my childhood, during the holidays, I regularly visited monasteries related to my mother’s past. Photos of this are shown on the back of the workpiece. In addition to the memories, the work also portrays a dark, laden atmosphere.

This is an ongoing series called “Gli Strappi Sui Muri” (Tears On The Walls), that I am working on.

“Gli Strappi Sui Muri” (Tears On The Walls), is a brand new series about a personal research on memories and “history layers”. I wanted to imagine a wall where our memories (the photo) get slowly covered by time, represented by paper stripes and paint interventions. Every time we look at a picture it changes in time and space, revealing us a new layer. While we grow up, we connect with our memories in a different level, and time erodes them slowly.

It’s been a while!

Here’s a batch of fresh new works that I am currently working on. I really enjoy to use wood panels and boards lately, and I think that the mixture of vintage portraits and wood gives a magic final touch to each piece.

Moreover, I can magnify the images to create an abstract patterned space around each subject. These works are part of the series “Gentlemen” and “Gentlewomen“.

For these pieces I used a vintage photo attached to a wood panel as a starting point. Then I decorated them using acrylic and gel pens, some of them also have gouache painting in the background.

You can find the whole collection available in my website.
