Nature to wear!

The Canadian brand Secret Wood creates fine handmade rings with a dreamy twist. Each piece is realised  mixing fresh wood and coloured jewelry resin.

The magical switch is in the details – inside each ring you can see a miniature surreal scenery that takes inspiration from nature.

You can literally bring a landscape with you, isn’t it cool? For now the the brand produces just rings, but they are planning to create pendants too. Can’t wait to see them!

The German artist Kat Kapo realized a couple of collage series called Kabinettkarten #1 and Kabinettkarten #2, where she made simple but stunning hand drawn interventions on vintage cabinet card portraits.

The American artist Joe Rudko creates stunning conceptual works using vintage found photos. Sometimes he mixes different found photos, sometimes he creates weird but interesting handmade interventions that “distorts” the images.

On this work she alter and reinvent memories through some classic portraits, creating a brand new way to see these images.

This video questions our perception of reality and memory. I like the way they wanted to show an ordinary couple relationship using a surreal vision and conceptual elements.

This short film was directed by Kristof Brandl and shot by Christophe Collette.

Inspired!

The Italian artist Valeria Vacca created an interesting series called “Family Portrait“.

The conceptual work is about anonymous identities and faded memories, where she worked directly on vintage amateur portraits using mixed techniques.

Inspired – Greg Sand

I really like the “Remnants” serie by the American conceptual artist Greg Sand.

The artist says: “Remnants is a series about recollection and remembrance. Each ‘remnant’ in the series is composed of three found photos–each from a different point in the subject’s life–that have been cut into strips and woven together to form a portrait of a person who has passed away“.
