Albin Sjödin – Sweet Darkness

It looks like each portrait taken from the Swedish photographer and filmmaker Albin Sjödin is surrounded by a crepuscular light.

However it doesn’t suggest me any sense of creepiness of some sort, but it’s more a sweet, silent and soft sensation.

His solitary subjects emerge from darkness, and the soft lights embrace them in a poetic way. You can also check his videos on Vimeo.

Caroline Liu Art

I am blown away the by colourful art world the the American artist Caroline Liu. She is a multi talented artist, her works includes paintings, soft sculptures, murals and installations.

The best part is that each piece can be seen together and still have sense, I would love to see live an immersive exhibition with all her stuff, it looks like a dream!

You can also find her official website here.

Ziqian Liu – Surreal Self Portraits

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Elegant, minimalist, surreal – these are the beautiful images by the Chinese independent photographer Ziqian Liu.

All the pics are still life self portraits, where you can see an intricate and balanced interaction between her body and objects of all sorts.

This is how describes her art research: All of her work is a self-portrait. In her work, she combines her body, plants, and mirror images, constantly exploring the balanced state of peaceful coexistence between humans and nature. In terms of visual presentation, she is keen to create quiet images with a sense of rigor and order.

Some Of My Works 73

Here’s another stack of works done a few months ago from the series “Mongolfiere” (Hot-air Balloons).

Mongolfiere (Hot-Air Balloons) is a sketchbook filled with altered vintage portraits ready to fly. I wanted to imagine the extension of each photo as an imaginary abstract world. Each subject represents a floaty and colourful balloon that walks freely into time and space.

See the whole collection below and let me know what do you think!

Inspired – Maliheh Zafarnezhad

I have been lucky enough to have met in person Maliheh Zafarnezhad in her studio. She is an incredible talent and also an amazing woman. Maliheh is Iraninan and Irish, and her photo transfer collages are a celebration of her rich multicultural history.

These are a small selection of her latest works on wood blocks and ceramic plates. they are part of her series The New Normal and Objects Of Memories. I enjoy these sculptural explorations of her style. Go check her website and Instagram to see more of her works (the pieces on canvas are also stunning!).

You can also find her on Saatchi Art.

Tommy Mitchell Art

So good!

I just love the bright portraits of the American artist Tommy Mitchell. There is a huge amount of work on each piece and believe it or not, he uses acrylics for the colourful parts and ballpoint pens for the rest!

In the gallery you can also find some work in progress pics of the artist working on these paintings, so you can see how massive some of these portraits are. You can also find him on Instagram.

Some Of My Works 70

These 2 pieces are the biggest one created for my ongoing series “Gentlewomen“. They are vintage portraits on wood panel, but here I just used pens for the whole painting and decoration.

The pictures are both the portrait of the same woman, so I thought to create a “twin” decoration, where patterns are repeated in both pieces with some small variants.

They are available in my website into the collection “Art on Wood“.
