Cass Art Workshops – Create An Imaginary Family Album

Hi everyone,

this is a time-lapse video where I promote my off line art class at Cass Art Islington in London “Create An Imaginary Family Album”.

This is a 4 dates event that will happen in April, and you can book your spot in my website here.

I hope to see you there in April!

Fashion Art – Sick Of Your Excuses

Hi everyone,

I have been able to make a new page of my Vogue magazine turned into an art journal. This piece is called “Sick of your excuses”. I think that the pose of the subject helped me a lot to find the right title.

I also transformed the body of the model into a simplified organic form, what you think? Have a wonderful Sunday!

Mercedes Helnwein – Dark Surreal Art

I am super intrigued by the aesthetic of the Austrian artist Mercedes Helnwein. Her talents move around different disciplines as writing, paintings, photography and film making. In this post I will focus on her fab portraits, where each piece seems to suggest us a story.

I enjoy the fact that each character on her paintings seems to hide a mysterious and somewhat dark secret and of course, the vintage look makes the whole creative project even better.

Damsefrau -Sculptural Masks

I am a huge fan of the Norwegian London-based artist Magnhild Kennedy since a while now. She creates stunning sculptural masks under the name of “Damselfrau“, and her beautiful creations are often visible on music videos and live performance installations.

There is a sort of mystical, mysterious and ritualistic vibe around her creations. Her process of making these pieces is also fascinating, this is what she says about it:

“I am led by the phantasms appearing in the process of the making and the materials themselves. These guide my decisions and inform the objects I make”.

You can purchase some of her creations here and find her on Instagram here.

Inspired – Maria Rivans

I was lucky enough to see some of her originals during an art fair in London. The UK artist Maria Rivans creates intricate and fascinating collages, where pop art and surrealism meet together and create sparkling compositions. I have added some of the pieces found on her series Pin-ups, but check all the rest on her website, it’s fab!

I also have her beautiful book “Things to Cut Out and Collage”, filled with tons of images that you can use for your collages (highly recommended!). You can purchase her originals here and follow her on Instagram here.

Derrick Ofosu Boateng – Afro Pop Portraits

There is so much joy into each portrait shot by the Ghanian photographer Derrick Ofosu Boateng, and everything he makes spreads a powerful light.

These are some insights about his art practice:

22-year-old Ghanaian rising-star, Derrick Boateng, is inspired by the richness of the African lifestyle. Radiating positivity and energy, Derrick’s ultra bright afro pop portraits offer a new perspective on Africa. The “iPhone artist” first started on his father’s iphone camera.

Through his art, he is inspired to represent the beauty and visual poetry of everyday African culture, lifestyles and behaviours thereby “changing the story that is told of Africa”. Though rooted in the local traditions of Ghana, he believes that the intimate images he captures are representation of life anywhere on the continent.

“Photography has always made me happy, since I was a child, and now it means something important to me because it is the way I have to defend the idea that Africa is not just something negative.”

Inspired – Lanecia Rouse Tinsley

Today I share with you the incredible collage works by the multidisciplinary artist Lanecia Rouse Tinsley. I love the sense of depth and composition of her pieces, and the layering is always spot on.

This intro on her website sums up perfectly the many talents of this artist:

Lanecia Rouse is a multidisciplinary artist based in Houston, TX. Her portfolio includes a range of abstract painting, photography, teaching, writing, speaking, and curatorial projects for local non-profit organizations.

Lanecia creates work that focuses on liminal space, on the not-yet-formed possibilities and depictions present in materials and their presentation that point towards “otherwise” possibilities and the everyday quests humans undergo to construct meaningful and content lives.

Her work is the product of contemplative and intuitive abstract mixed-media practices and is informed by sociology, theology, culture, poetry, and history.

Alice De Miramon – Layered Art

You cannot deny it – the French artist Alice De Miramon can transform everything she touches into a beautiful, colourful and powerful art piece.

I love how she uses very old vintage papers as a medium to paint over her delicate feminine subjects. She also experiments a lot, paintings on vintage objects or textiles as well. No matter where she paints, you can recognise her “fauvism” inspired touch.
